Labour Room Experience Part 3

Bismillahirahmanirrahim

At 8 pm, the progress remains slow as cervix dilates to 4 cm still. Due to that, the Gynea had proposed me two options. Option no. 1 was to go for Caesar operation while option no. 2 was to wait for another 4 hours for natural baby birth.

Disebabkan dah tak tahan nak menunggu lagi 4 jam, saya jawab kat Gynea "operate". My hubby and my mother was there, in the labour room too. Nak tunggu 5 minit tu macam 15 minit. Siap tanya Mak lagi, dah ke belum. In fact, my hubby told me that they really made it within 5 minutes, on time. I'm not sure which doctor.

Bukan sebarang cucuk ye. I had to bend over my body. Can you imagine of doing that while feeling the extreme pain of contraction and plus, you have a big tummy. Susah tau. Tapi, nurse kat situ pandai. Dia bagi bantal untuk saya peluk dengan cara dua-dua tangan atas bantal (bukan peluk bantal yang tangan kat kiri kanan tu ye) and she hugged me kuat-kuat. Alhamdulillah, masa jarum masuk tu tak rasa sakit sangat.

Tak lama lepas doktor mulakan kerja pembedahan tu,  I fell asleep. Letih kot. Sepatutnya, epidural tu bius separuh je. Bila saya terjaga nampak doktor dan nurse tengah tepuk-tepuk punggung baby. I smiled. Then, tertidur lagi. Tak lama lepas tu nurse kejutkan, she brought my baby near to me and let me kiss my baby. Erm, bau syurga. Alhamdulillah.

In the other entry, I will share the reason why I chose Hospital Pantai Klang for baby birth.

This is my son. Our baby A.D, in his papa's arm.

Labour Room Experience 2013

Bismillahirahmanirrahim

Pengalaman bersalin di Pantai Medical Centre, Klang.

September 9th, 2013.

I had an appointment with Gynea, Dr. Tricia at 10am. It was just a weekly check up as my baby now had reaches 39 weeks age. Unfortunately, my hubby was having fever. So we went to Klinik Anis Pelabuhan Klang first, let my hubby get medicine and MC. Then, we drove to Pantai Hospital, Klang.
If you used with the procedure of pregnancy check up at private hospital, you know that the Gynea will normally (or perhaps definitely) scan your baby for each visit. Same procedure went to me. (Kalaulah saya tau dari awal, tak ada lah saya scan dekat Pusat Bersalin Barakah. ^_^). The Gynea asked about my health status, whether I had experiencing any contraction or any bleedings or any weird discharge at vagina? All my answers were, "no".

Then she replied "Tak ada tanda-tanda. Macam lama lagi nak bersalin ye?" I smiled. Since it was my first pregnancy, I had no idea to say.

"Come, Doctor nak tengok bukaan cervix. **feeling pain for a while** Dah buka 2 cm. Some people bila 2 cm dah sakit, tak boleh jalan." I felt proud of my self sekejap. Hehe.

"You nak Doctor pecahkan air ketuban tak? Kalau Doctor pecahkan, you mesti bersalin hari ni. Atau you nak dia pecah sendiri?" Air ketuban refers to the amniotic fluid. It can get ruptured naturally or by doctor.  Once it gets ruptured, mother has to deliver the baby within 24 hours. In most cases where mothers want to deliver baby naturally, they will let the fluid rapture naturally. But this is unexpected. It can be few weeks before the due date or a week after the due date.

I looked at my hubby. He said "Ikut sayang la." If you had this experience (of expecting the 1st baby), you would feel the same as mine - tak sabar nak tunggu baby lahir. Plus, I had no experience and I kept thinking, what if I feel the contraction when my hubby is not around? What should I do if the air ketuban ruptured. Would I get panic? And if my hubby were at home but it happens at midnight, could we reach hospital on time? And so many worries.

So I replied to the Gynea "Boleh la. Doctor pecahkan."

"Ok, be ready untuk masuk ward. Lepas air ketuban pecah, cervix is expected to dilates 1 cm for every 1 hour." Wasn't it sounds so pleasant? I will give birth on Sept, 9th instead of Sept, 16th which falls on Malaysia Day. It's ok lah tak dapat baby Malaysia Day. The excitement made me forgot that my hubby was having fever... Labour Room Experience 2013 Part 2

Bismillahirahmanirrahim

Around 11 am, I was admitted to the maternity ward. Doctor came at around 12 noon to rupture the fluid. Sebelum tu dah buat CTG dulu. Alhamdulilah, baby's heart beat was good. Memanglah kan, baby tengah seronok duduk dalam perut ibunya. Belum masa nak keluar lagi.

Bila dah pecah air ketuban, baru lah tau rasanya macam mana. It was a warm fluids. Dan banyak sangat. Was it painful? Yes it was. Dah nama pun bersalin kan? Berpeluh juga la. Thank God that the nurse kept saying, tarik nafas dalam-dalam. Tapi, masih juga sakit.

The Gynea then left me alone. So did the nurse.I was just watching tv while hoping that the cervix will dilate rapidly. Bila dengar azan Zohor kat tv, sempat juga tanya nurse macam mana nak solat. Kata nurse, darah dah keluar sekali masa air ketuban pecah, kalau nak diikutkan dah kira darah nifas. Wallahualam. Masa ni hubby dah balik rumah.

I didn't felt the contraction at the beginning. Just an hour later I started to feel it. I remembered the Gynea had advised me to have a light walk around the ward. But how? So I just remained on the bed. After Zohor only my mother arrived. Then my hubby. When the contraction becames often, I sat on a chair instead of the bed. So I could feel the pain less. Jam 4 petang, bukaan cervix dah 4 cm. They only allow one person to accompany me. So, my hubby went in. Bila tiba waktu solar Asar, mak pula jaga.

Gambar sekadar hiasan.

Dalam labour room tu, I was not allowed to sit. Baring mengiring je sepanjang masa sebab nurse dah letak the CTG machine on me to monitor baby's heart beat. Masa masuk situ, they have doubled up pitocin volume dalam kantung drip tu. Sebab tu orang cakap sakit kalau bersalin induce. Sebab dah sakit sangat, saya terpaksa gigit tangan hubby yang tengah genggam erat tangan isterinya ini. He he. I'm sorry hubby. Tak sengaja.

To be continued at part 3 ^_^
